Why hire rather than let the venue decide
Most Sydney venues will supply glassware, and most of it is the same thick banquet stock every other wedding gets. You have thought about the flowers, the linen and the lighting, and the glass in everyone’s hand is in the photographs just as much.
Our vintage coupes are the ones people notice. They photograph beautifully, they suit a champagne tower, and they make the toast feel like a toast. We also hire proper champagne flutes if you want the traditional line, and Luigi Bormioli wine glasses for the tables.
Working out how many you need
The honest rule for a wedding is more than you think, because glasses get put down and abandoned all night. What we suggest:
- Reception wine glasses: two per guest, split between red and white if you are serving both
- Toast glasses: one coupe or flute per guest, plus ten per cent spare
- Water glasses: one highball per guest if the tables are set
- Cocktail hour: add half a glass per guest again, people rarely carry the same one through
Tell us the headcount and the format and we will do this for you. It costs nothing to get a quote and it is a lot cheaper than running out at seven o’clock.
The three day hire and why it matters for a wedding
Weddings do not happen tidily on a single day. There is a setup, a rehearsal, a morning of running around, and then an aftermath that nobody wants to think about in advance.
Three days covers it. Take them on the Friday, have the wedding on the Saturday, and get them back to us on the Monday. Dirty is fine. In fact dirty is expected. Nobody on your wedding weekend should be rinsing three hundred glasses in a venue kitchen at one in the morning.
Breakages
Glasses break at weddings. We know. We are not going to hold a bond over you and audit every crate.
Replacement costs are published on our main page so you can see them before you book, and they are the actual cost of the glass, not a penalty. Most weddings come back with a couple broken and it barely registers.
