What it actually costs
A crate of white wine glasses is $35 for three days. Thirty half decent disposable wine glasses from a party shop cost about the same, and on Sunday you put them in the bin.
Real glass is not the expensive option for a home party. It is roughly the same money, it looks far better on the table, and the washing up is ours.
What to hire for which birthday
Different milestones drink differently, and the glass list should follow:
- 21st: highballs and pilsners do most of the work, plus a drink dispenser for something premixed
- 30th and 40th: wine glasses by the crate, red and white, plus highballs for spirits
- 50th and 60th: proper wine glasses, and coupes if there is a speech coming
- Any of them: more water glasses than you think, they always run out first
No minimum order, which matters for a small party
A lot of hire companies will not get out of bed for one crate. We will. People hire a single crate of wine glasses from us all the time for a dinner of twelve, and there is no surcharge for being a small job.
If you are in Northbridge or one of the suburbs around us, you can collect them yourself for free and the whole thing costs $35.
No washing up, and we mean it
Send them back dirty. Do not rinse them, do not run them through your dishwasher as a courtesy, do not line them up on the draining board.
